Executive Director

Dr. Esperanza Zendejas brings a wealth of experience to the ESC-2 having served as a teacher, counselor, and principal. Dr. Zendejas also served over 24 years as a school superintendent in a variety of school districts in the states of California, Texas and Indiana. In 2020, Dr. Zendejas was appointed as the Executive Director for the  Education Service Center, Region 2.  

 

Dr. Zendejas is a graduate of Stanford University where she earned her Doctorate in School Administration and Policy Analysis. She holds a Master’s degree in counseling from the University of San Diego and a Bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University.  She is a Kellogg Foundation Fellow and the recipient of numerous national, state and local education awards.

 

She is a storyteller, published author, playwright, and puppeteer. She is married to John Fox and together they have three children and eight grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, golfing and writing.
