ESC-2 New Teacher Mentoring Academy

According to the National Education Association (NEA), twenty percent of new teachers leave the classroom within the first three years of teaching. Additionally, that number increases to almost fifty percent in urban areas. Region 2 has an opportunity to support new teachers (0-3 years) in a variety of topics that are research based best practices and are highly requested by new teachers. This seven-month series will provide new educators the opportunity to gain insight from highly qualified educators, including administrators. Each virtual roundtable discussion will include a focus of the month, along with time allotted for a Q&A session. Additionally, self-care will be embedded into each session, thus stressing the importance of averting teacher burn-out.
